This week i need tocreate some questions to ask my sister when ik interview her about her time working clincal on the psych floor. I thought these could be easy to come up with, but its actually pretty hard to come up with questions without violating hippa. I remember telling me thst when she left working in psych she always left really sad, which is why she ended up choosing anesthesiology. I plan on intgerviewing her very soon but because she just became an RN in the last few months, she works very long hours especially with covid so bad right now.

this blog is definitely more of a darker one then normal of a hospital on t and i think that if im going to be doing this that its important for me to express my personal experiences. I dont really feel comfortable talking about what was the reasons aa to why i was there but my personel experience was that on my first occasion, i was treated really bad and it kind of made me terrified of going back, and the second time was very beneficial for me and the people there made it so much easier which is why i wanted to originally get into psych. Mind you these 2 experiences were not related, so maybe it was just the section but the reason i wanted to get into the field was because i wanted to make peoples times there better and not like the people who made me feel so low.
this week went really well. I found alot of really interesting ted talks of people who worked in psychiatric facilities and the tolls it took on them and their own mental health, as well as the benefits and lessons theyve learned from being in the field. One thing that really stood out to me was the amount of nurses who talk about how a psychiatric positions makes you need to put up a mental shield, and that the more you see the less it effects you over the years, but that can also be hard to have happen to you. Dealing with everyone elses mental demons according to the doctors can make you start to not realize you own, which ends up with alot of nurses having depression symptoms of their own when they arnt in the hospital. That kind of scares me because i feel like im a very empathetic person and other peoples trauma would definitely take a toll on me.
-this week, i started my introduction to the psychology department in nursing. Ive decided to do both the psych floor in the hospital as well as psych nursing at a psychiatric facility, commonly called a psych ward. This really sparks my interest because last year took AP psychology, so i feel as though when im going about learning about the cvarrer that comes with the topic this month that learning about it will make it all come together and make more sense for me. Psych nursing is what i originally wanted to do in the nursing field before creating this project to decide which field i think im going to want to be apart of most. The interview with jared this week actually went very well. He told me all about stories at the hospital (without using names to avoid misusing hippas regulations) as well as some behind the scenes factors of working in the emergency department. One thing that was definitely disappointing to here was how some of the patientd were treated if they werent considered “mentally stable” and when I finish editing everything I can upload that interview as well. I dont want to spoil the interview for you because i want you tobe interested when you watch it, but the stuff the emergency department sees is much more than i would have expected! Stay tuned.
- Week 7 is here!!!! This week, im starting to wrap up with the emergency department. Doing this means im going to need to do an interview with someone I know who was a security guard in milford regional center. I chose him because as someone who isnt a doctor or a patient, i thought he would be the best option for a very unbiased opinion on what he thinks the hospitals excell at, as well as what they need to do better to not only better themselves, but also the patients. This week was a hard week for me with the wrapping up of the last school term, i needed to make improvisations to not only my project but catch up on my missing pieces for my emergency department section. Week 5 was a very productive week for me. I got caught up to date as to where I would like to be standing in my project, and my research is off to a good start, starting with nurses in the emergency department. I did get some exciting news! 2 people I know were security guards in the Milford hospital, and I asked them if at they would be willing to meet with me to get some information on what they think the hospital could be doing to improve they're safety measures, as well as things that unfortunately happen that shouldn't. the end goal with those 2 boys is to interview them, which I can add into my podcast, or have them come and be in the podcast.
very excited for week 6! This week I finished up with minor touchups on my website, as well as getting my research outline plan done and creating the google slides that went along with how I'm going to keep track of my progress. I had catching up to do which is why this blog post is coming late, I started to catch up on previous weekly goals I've missed and trying to realign myself back onto the right track for my project. I can definitely say after week 4 im left in a way better spot, I know what work I need to catch up on and I've started catching up up, so my goals for week 5 are to be completely caught back up on time.
Week 3 has been a very good week for me. I finally chose the theme I'm going to stick to for my website, and in terms of layout for my website, I have all my pages officially squared away, meaning meh website is functional now which I'm super excited about. I finished my about me page as you can see if you click on the "about me" tab, and told the story of why I want to do nursing, which I don't tell many people so I'm kind of excited for people to see why i'm so dedicated to it. last week, I decided the order that im going to do things in, starting with Emergency Rooms, I did some research on my loc al hospitals reviews as well as asked some classmates about their experiences at hospitals, and then I decided that I was going to incooperate a podcast at the end of each topic (roughly a month long) about what I learned and think about the field, as well as at the very end do one longer podcast on my findings and to see if my opinion on which field I want to go into changes.
I missed a few days of school this week, making it difficult to catch up on what I was doing. I started focusing the week on starting getting content on my website. I started my about me page, looked through some themes on weekly for this website, decided what order I'm going to learn about each area of study in nursing, as well as create a slideshow presentation which is where a lot of my project content is going to be held. I will link that slideshow to my weebly! |
